Founded in 2013, Living Green exists to spread awareness of the hazards of e-waste and provide an eco-friendly way to dispose of unused electronics.
Electronic waste (e-waste) contains toxic and hazardous materials such as mercury, lead, cadmium, beryllium, and chromium. Electronics recycling (e-cycling) conserves natural resources by recovering valuable materials from old electronics that can be used to make new products. This process significantly reduces pollution and promotes the efficient use of raw materials.
E-cycling isn’t just about preserving the environment, it’s also about creating opportunities to change lives. At Living Green, we believe in empowering the local community by being of service to individuals and organizations. Our efforts help to provide ready-to-use electronics at a fraction of the cost to those who do not have the resources to purchase new hardware. We also partner with several philanthropic organizations like PAWS and the Special Olympics throughout the year to raise funds and awareness for important causes.
FAQ
Do you accept TVs?
Yes, only at our Auburn headquarters. If this doesn’t work for you, please visit E-Cycle Washington to find an alternate recycler.
Do you wipe all hard drives?
Yes, every hard drive is wiped to NIST standards using our hard drive sanitization device. Any drive that has issues being wiped is drilled and shredded to ensure data security.
What do you do with all the electronics?
We attempt to find a new home for all the electronics we receive, because the best form of recycling is reuse. Anything that doesn’t have any value will be sent to our processor where it will be grinded down into raw materials.
Do you offer recycling pickups?
Yes, we offer free business pickups. If you are a residential customer, please drop off your electronics at one of our drop-off locations or attend one of our events.
What items do you not accept?
We don’t accept lightbulbs, household batteries (e.g. AA, AAA), and large home appliances (Refrigerators, ovens, etc.)
What is the process for recycling at our Fremont location?
Our office is inside of the Saturn Building, which resembles a multi-story apartment complex. The front door is located between HomeStreet Bank and The Barrel Thief. Please dial 224 on the intercom and we will buzz you in and meet you in the lobby. There is also a parking lot in the rear of the building that you can use. Please call 253.204.4438 if you need access through the back door, as there is no intercom there.
