Data Destruction & Electronic Recycling

Talk to Us About Electronics Risk Management

Government agencies and contractors manage some of the most sensitive data in existence from citizen records to classified information. When electronic media and devices reach end-of-life, they must be disposed of in strict compliance with federal standards to prevent data breaches and security risks.

The NIST Special Publication 800-88 Rev. 1 (Media Sanitization) standard requires agencies and contractors to sanitize media using one of three approved methods:

  • Clear (logical techniques to make data unreadable through overwriting)
  • Purge (physical or logical techniques that make data unrecoverable with advanced tools)
  • Destroy (shredding, pulverizing, disintegrating, or incinerating so that media cannot be reconstructed)

Who Must Follow NIST 800-88?

  • Federal Agencies: All departments handling sensitive or classified data
  • State & County Governments: Managing tax, court, licensing, and public records
  • City Governments: Holding local records such as utilities, permits, and police data
  • Government Contractors: Vendors and partners entrusted with government data systems

Any entity working with government records must ensure end-of-life data destruction follows NIST standards

Sell Your Electronics

Sell your electronics in bulk to recoup business costs.

Failing to properly destroy old electronics can bring serious consequences for Government agencies organizations:

Federal enforcement & penalties for noncompliance with NIST requirements

Contract termination or disqualification from future government projects
Breach of public trust if citizen records or classified data are exposed
Security risks that could compromise critical infrastructure or public safety

We make compliant IT asset disposition (ITAD) simple and auditable for government agencies.

Security First Environmental Mission

We believe no environmental outcome is acceptable if security is compromised.
Every device we handle, working or not, undergoes data destruction before resale, recycling, or material recovery decisions are made.
By treating electronics disposition as a risk management function, we help organizations protect data, reduce liability, and meet compliance requirements, while delivering responsible environmental outcomes through disciplined, security-first operations.

Don’t just take our word for it. See who already trusts us.

Not Sure About Data Destruction and Recycling Your Tech?

Here Are Some Answers for Questions We Sometimes Receive.

What does NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1 require?

It requires agencies and contractors to use approved sanitization methods Clear, Purge, or Destroy depending on the sensitivity of the data and the security needs.

What types of media does NIST 800-88 apply to?

It applies to all forms of electronic storage, including hard drives, SSDs, servers, backup tapes, mobile devices, and removable media.

What is the difference between Clear, Purge, and Destroy?
  • Clear: overwrites data (unreadable)
  • Purge: cryptographic (unreadable)
  • Destroy: physically destroys media
What happens if we don’t follow NIST sanitization standards?

Noncompliance can result in federal penalties, contract loss, and reputational harm. Sensitive data may also be exposed, creating national security risks.
