Manufacturers, research teams, and technology startups depend on intellectual property to stay competitive. From proprietary designs and formulas to prototypes and source code, these organizations generate and store sensitive data across many devices. When IT assets reach end-of-life, they must be destroyed properly to prevent trade secret theft, compliance issues, and reputational harm.
The Defend Trade Secrets Act (DTSA) requires organizations to take “reasonable measures” to protect their trade secrets. This includes secure destruction of obsolete data and devices so sensitive information cannot be recovered.
